Reflective and Therapeutic writing

Journal writing is a powerful tool that can be used in conjunction with other therapies, as an integral part of the overall therapeutic process or even as a therapy in itself.

Writing can help process difficult emotions bringing clarity and understanding, it can be cathartic and can help us to connect with the deeper aspects of ourself. 

Therapeutic writing, individual sessions

If you would like to explore therapeutic writing, I can offer you an initial session via Zoom with follow up sessions via email or Zoom. I will introduce you to various writing techniques using free writing and structured writing tailored to meet your individual needs. You will write between sessions and you will have an opportunity to share and reflect on your writing process.

Writing for Wellbeing Workshops

I also offer a short course of online workshops entitled 'Writing for Wellbeing'. The course consists of 4 weekly sessions where you will be introduced to a variety of writing techniques and will have plenty of opportunities to write and share within the session and further develop your writing at home. The course will be via Zoom, no dates currently available, if you are interested please contact me.

Testimonials

I work as a counsellor for a youth charity based in Norfolk. Since doing Shona’s online therapeutic writing course, I have returned again and again to the writing prompts and used them both in person and online as part of counselling sessions. I have also used the prompts as part of my private practice working with all age groups where it is equally useful. However when working with young people (14-25 year olds) who sometimes struggle to find the words to express those deeper and trickier emotions, the writing prompts can really help to explore at a greater depth.

I would highly recommend this course as a really helpful and practical way to work therapeutically with writing. Over the years I have done many CPD training sessions, but non have I continually returned to as I have with Shona’s writing course.
